Associating file extensions with applications is how the operating system knows how to open or execute a given file. When a new application is installed, it takes possession of its extensions automatically. Nevertheless, Windows allows users to change these associations. Consequently, a problem may arise when, accidentally or unknowingly, we associate a given file extension with the wrong program. It may also happen that when we uninstall an application, the associated files become orphaned. As a result, the system will fail to open the files successfully.
Advanced File Fixer will help you solve file association problems. In many respects, this application is similar to the so-called “registry fixers” or “system optimizers”. In fact, the only difference is that will take care of a more specific type of errors.
The user's interface is extremely easy to use, and when I say “easy”, I really mean it. As a matter of fact, you will only need two clicks to perform the whole operation. You can start by scanning the system for file extension errors and their associated Registry errors. Then, wait for a while until the scanning is done to fix the problems found. Although the interface has been organized into tabs, in my opinion they are not justifiable because only the first offers real interaction with the user.
Finally, this application could prove absolutely unnecessary because most system optimizers are also capable of solving file association issues.
